Lutheran Heritage Speaker: Rev. Dr. Paul Grime
We are very pleased to have Rev. Dr. Paul Grime of Concordia Theological Seminary join us to explore the importance of Luther's musical legacy in helping inform and strengthen the laity during the reformation and to this day. Dr. Grime served as executive director for LCMS Commission on Worship from 1996 to 2007 where he was the project director for Lutheran Service Book. He is currently Dean of the Chapel and Co-Director of Good Shepherd Institute at Fort Wayne Seminary. Dr. Grime will also preach and teach adult Sunday school class on October 6.
ALPHA is a practical introduction to the Christian faith for seeking to learn more and a review of the basics of the faith for those who are already Christian. It is a series of 14 sessions on Tuesday evenings (6-8pm) consisting of a meal, a video or live talk and a small group discussion on topics such as, “Who is Jesus?” “How did we get the Bible?” and “Where is God in the midst of suffering?”
The Searching Scripture Class is a study of Luther’s Small Catechism. The Catechism summarizes the chief doctrines of Holy Scripture through an examination of the Ten Commandments, the Apostles’ Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, Holy Baptism, the Office of the Keys and Confession, and the Lord’s Supper. Students will gain an appreciation for the Christ-centeredness of Lutheran teaching and see it as the true expression of Christ and His Apostles.
English as a Second Language classes are offered on Tuesdays during the school year. The classes are for beginners as well as for those interested in conversation practice. All are welcome! We also offer field trips into the community.
Classes meet during the day and in the evening (please contact the church for dates and times).
Lego Club is offered twice a year for 4-6 week internals. Builders of all ages are invited to join us for devotions, building, prayer, and snacks. Younger builders need to bring an adult for these fun afternoons.
Every 2nd Sunday of the month during the school year, the Japanese get together at St. Peter’s to play Volleyball. While the adults play Volleyball the Grace Lutheran volunteers watch the children and have Sunday School in Japanese. We tell a Bible story and do crafts or games that are related to the story.
